My students loved learning about polar bears and their dens. They thought it was awesome that we made fake snow since we have lots of real snow outside. The writing sheets were a great addition to the lesson.

The students loved the lesson. I love the vocabulary cards and the writing extensions. This tied in nicely with our science lesson from the other day.

My second and third graders loved learning about polar bears and their dens. They enjoyed making snow then trying to make their dens out of the snow and then marshmallows. They collaborated and came to the conclusion that the snow we made could represent wetter snow and the marshmallows could represent dryer snow. As much as they loved this step, they really thrived when it came to researching more about different arctic animals and their habitats.

My Second Graders loved this lesson. We learned new things about polar bears. They loved making dens with sugar cubes. I have a STEM classroom so I don’t have my kiddos long enough to do the writing extensions but many are writing about polar bears when they are in their classrooms.

My K-2 students enjoyed this lesson since they got to learn about polar bears. They loved usng the sugar cubes to build. We had a little trouble getting the consistency right for the corn flour mixture – we wondered if it would look better with a white flour or cornstarch?
